What is HDMO?

The Hinton Destination Management Organization Society (HDMO) is a newly formed non-profit society led primarily by hoteliers and operators within the visitor economy. It will provide structure and a cohesive strategy to encourage visitors to experience Hinton and the surrounding area. While the goal is to help drive year-round economic activity for hotels, operators, restaurants and the local retail sector, benefits to residents and the preservation of Hinton’s core values and natural beauty will also be central to the HDMO activities and branding.

These are the steps we have taken to develop a Destination Brand for Hinton and the Northern Rockies.

    Develop a brand strategy that outlines the brand's core values and personality.

  • Collect feedback from engaged individuals about defining factors of the destination.

    Bring together a collection of stakeholders or involved parties to engage in exercises that inform the vision and direction of the brand.

    Have valuable and collective conversations that will answer unknowns, establish consensus and align the group on our collective goals.

  • Conceptualize a series of concepts that reflect all information and collective input gathered.

    Craft a compelling brand story that communicates the destination's unique attributes and resonates with the identified audiences.

    Create concept specific collateral for decision makers to review.

  • Further develop the chosen concept while implementing feedback, revisions and evaluation.

    Share concepts for revision with Advisory Committee and DMO Board.

The Brand.

The tagline "Yours to Explore" encapsulates the spirit of boundless adventure and personalized discovery within the captivating landscapes of Hinton and the Northern Rockies.

Rooted in the idea of individual agency and freedom, this brand concept encourages visitors to embrace the region as their own canvas for exploration. The tagline signifies not just an invitation but a declaration that every inch of the Northern Rockies is a playground waiting to be explored, fostering a sense of ownership and connection among diverse audiences.

Expanding on the idea:

"Yours to Explore" is an overarching theme for this concept. However, the power of the tagline lays within the first two words... Exchanging “Explore” to other words that showcase what is you’re speaking to makes this a flexible tagline for a variety of marketing and stories. Examples could include “Yours to Taste”, “Yours to Bike”, “Yours to Stay”, “Yours to Play” etc.

  • Individual Empowerment

    "Yours to Explore" places emphasis on individual empowerment, inviting visitors to take the reins of their adventure. It communicates that every trail, mountain, and waterway is a canvas for personal exploration, allowing each visitor to craft their own narrative.

  • Limitless Possibilities

    This emphasizes the unstructured opportunities within Hinton and the Northern Rockies. "Yours to Explore" communicates that the region is not confined by predefined paths, providing limitless possibilities for discovery, from hidden gems to breathtaking vistas.
