Hinton is perfectly located on the Yellowhead Highway (Hwy 16) in the Athabasca River Valley. the Town of Hinton is 15 minutes east of the Jasper National Park gates and 300 km west of Edmonton. Our backyard is a mecca for hiking, biking, skiing, hunting & fishing, OHV’s, and water sports.

Travelling to Hinton by Bus

There are a few options for those wishing to travel to Hinton by bus.

If you are travelling from Edmonton, Sundog Tours can pick you up at the Edmonton airport or downtown Edmonton and bring you to Hinton via Highway 16. If arriving from Calgary you can take the Sundog connector from Calgary to Jasper via Banff on the beautiful Higway 93 and then by booking an additional trip from Jasper to Hinton.

Travelling to Hinton by Car

The Trans-Canada Highway 16, known commonly as the Yellowhead highway, runs directly through Hinton and is the main east-west route.

If travelling from Calgary, you can drive to Hinton via Jasper and Banff on Hwy 93. Also known as the Icefields Parkway it is a 230 km road that parallels the Continental Divide and traverses through the Canadian Rockies. It is widely considered to be one of the most iconic stretches of highway in the world.

The Town of Hinton has developed in two separate areas, about 5 km apart known to residents as the Hill and Valley – separated by Highway 16. When visiting Hinton there are many ways to get around if you do not have access to your own vehicle.
